BaadiGoob is a digital commercial platform that creates a profitable market for local small-scale and medium-size entrepreneurs selling products grown or made locally. Mogadishu Job Fair

Leapforging Innovative Ecosystem

Established in 2016, Hano Social Innovation Hub is a community-driven business incubator dedicated to fostering social innovation and driving positive change in our society. We believe in the power of collaboration, creativity, and collective intelligence to address the most pressing social and environmental challenges of our time. Through Hano Social Innovation Hub, we support entrepreneurs, including youth, women, IDPs, refugee returnees, and university graduates, to test their innovativeness and ability to bring ideas into reality. It also hosts events and workshops to promote awareness of social issues and encourage collaboration between different stakeholders. Hano Social Innovation Hub focuses on a variety of social issues, including STEM, environmental sustainability, education, health, and poverty alleviation. Its ultimate goal is to create a more equitable and sustainable society in Somalia. Hano Social Innovation Hub plays a crucial role in fostering social innovation and entrepreneurship in Somalia and helping to build a more vibrant and inclusive social sector.

Saanqaad Business Incubator (SBI)

Leapforging Innovative Ecosystem

Saanqaad Business Incubator, which was an EU- Funded project implemented by the UN-Habitat, UNDP, UNHCR, and BRA in Mogadishu, Somalia. The incubator is managed by Hano Academy under a pilot project, aimed at reducing the rate of unemployment, especially among the youth in Somalia. Studies show that over 70% of the youth in Somalia are unemployed, making them a ready target for radicalization due to limited access to job opportunities. Others indulge in drug abuse and crime, thereby affecting the reconstruction and growth of post-crisis Somalia. Hano Academy was contracted to implement the project, which entailed managing the Saanqaad Business Incubator (SBI) and implementing all activities related to the Business incubator. During the past eight months of the contract, our team has served more than 1,600 beneficiaries through a series of activities at the incubator. Examples of activities include the provision of business support, services, capacity-building training, coaching and mentoring, employment opportunities, and business networking. Towards the end of the pilot phase, the team organized a Business Innovation Challenge in which entrepreneurs-in-the-making presented their business ideas in a competition, with the winner being awarded $500

The event has created an excellent opportunity for jobseekers and establishing a sustainable network for all stakeholders. It attracted over 38 companies with over 1,800 job seekers. As a follow-up to Mogadishu Job Fair, we started hosting 12 Career Fairs in 12 cities on the last Thursday of every month. This Career Fair will help many youths and jobseekers make the right career decisions and help them to transcend their career progression ladders. Many students in Somalia chose courses without proposer consultation or research. Majority of the courses don’t align with their interests, job availability and abilities thereby churning out graduates who are neither passionate nor confident of the career choices. To curb this problem, Hano Academy has organized 12 Career Fairs that will be held in 12 cities.

The Career Fairs provide an avenue to discuss options of educational training that will lead to employment, experts-gap, job opportunities available in different fields and how jobseeker can easily get employment. The Career Fair features CV Surgery, Career Guidance, Networking, Panel Discussions, Guest Speeches and question and answer sessions, among others. It brings together public and private sector, including educational institutions and the academics who provide an insight into how to provide courses that are in line with jobs available in the modern job market, and specifically in their own cities.
